Mission

The Project Manager will be responsible for leading multidisciplinary R&D projects focused on the development of advanced optical systems for Space and Defense applications. The role oversees the complete project lifecycle, from technical specifications through prototyping and delivery, ensuring projects are executed according to scope, schedule, budget, quality standards, and customer expectations while coordinating cross-functional engineering teams and maintaining close communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Project Planning and Coordination

  • Define project roadmaps and execution plans for the development of advanced optical instrumentation.

  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams including systems, mechanical, optical, electrical, and software engineering.

  • Ensure project activities are aligned with technical requirements, customer expectations, and business objectives.

Execution, Budget, and Schedule Control

  • Manage project planning, milestones, budgets, and resource allocation throughout the complete development lifecycle.

  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions when required.

  • Ensure successful delivery from technical specifications through prototyping while meeting agreed schedules and financial targets.

Stakeholder and Supplier Management

  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers during project execution.

  • Organize project review meetings and communicate progress, technical achievements, and project status.

  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.

Reporting and Governance

  • Prepare project documentation and internal and external reporting.

  • Coordinate with Product Assurance and Quality Assurance teams to ensure compliance with applicable quality standards and regulations.

  • Monitor project performance, governance activities, and project risks while providing visibility to management.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering or Science (Aerospace, Electromechanics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Electronics, or related disciplines).

  • Around 10 years of professional experience, including at least 3 years managing R&D or technology development projects.

  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering projects within industrial environments.

  • Theoretical or practical knowledge of optical systems or optical instrumentation.

  • Professional proficiency in English.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously within demanding technical environments.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in the Space and/or Defense industry.

  • Experience managing complex technology development programs involving multidisciplinary engineering teams.

  • Knowledge of quality assurance processes, regulated development environments, or product lifecycle management.

  • Knowledge of French is considered an advantage.
