Mission
The Applications Engineer will act as the technical reference for industrial X-ray inspection applications, ensuring optimal integration, validation, and adoption of advanced photon-counting detector systems. The role directly contributes to product success by translating customer application requirements into validated system performance, supporting innovation, and enabling new inspection methodologies through close collaboration with product, technology, and commercial teams.
Responsibilities
Application Validation and Testing
- Lead experimental trials and structured testing programs for new detector hardware and data processing platforms.
- Design, execute, and document statistically robust performance evaluations of inspection systems.
- Analyze system behavior under real-world industrial operating conditions.
Technology Collaboration and Optimization
- Work closely with detector design, firmware, software, and deep learning teams to assess and improve system performance.
- Develop and validate optimization methods using conventional calibration techniques and advanced machine learning approaches.
- Identify and promote new industrial applications enabled by photon-counting X-ray technology.
Customer Integration and Technical Support
- Act as the primary technical interface for customers during system integration projects.
- Deliver technical product demonstrations, application training, and pre-sales support.
- Support customers in adapting inspection solutions to their specific use cases.
Documentation and Compliance
- Produce high-quality technical documentation, including application notes, imaging studies, specifications, operating procedures, and user manuals.
- Coordinate and manage certification and compliance processes for new products in accordance with applicable X-ray regulations and standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physics, Engineering, Applied Sciences, or a closely related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in an Application Engineering role within an industrial or technology-driven environment.
- Proven ability to design rigorous testing methodologies and produce statistically sound technical reports.
- Strong systems-level understanding, with the ability to analyze interactions between hardware, software, and operational parameters.
- Solid knowledge of health, safety, and regulatory compliance requirements related to X-ray systems.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working within Quality Management Systems and formal certification frameworks.
- Knowledge of multi-spectral X-ray techniques and material decomposition methods.
- Familiarity with X-ray image processing, computed tomography, or multi-projection reconstruction techniques.
- Practical experience in data analysis and automation using Python or similar programming languages.
