Our client is a high-tech startup operating at the forefront of detection and imaging technologies, with a focus on precision engineering, electronics integration, and complex systems. They offer a dynamic, innovation-driven environment where engineers work closely across disciplines to bring advanced sensing products from concept to production. With a collaborative team culture and flat hierarchy, they foster creativity and technical excellence throughout the product lifecycle.
Mission
Lead the mechanical design and system integration of advanced detection modules and electronics assemblies. This role spans the full product lifecycle — from concept design and prototyping to material selection, testing, and small-scale production — working closely with electronics and production teams to deliver robust, scalable, and high-performance mechanical solutions.
Responsibilities
Mechanical Design & Development
- Design and optimize mechanical components and product housing, including thermal management and module integration.
- Develop 3D-CAD models and physical prototypes, ensuring alignment with system architecture and performance needs.
- Collaborate with electronics and production teams to support the end-to-end product lifecycle, from early concepts to final assembly.
Testing & Quality Assurance
- Plan, conduct, and document mechanical and electromechanical testing of components and subsystems.
- Evaluate materials and coordinate with suppliers, including quality control and manufacturing feasibility.
Customization & Client Interaction
- Design tailored mechanical solutions based on customer requirements and application-specific constraints.
- Contribute to internal and external discussions on design feasibility, performance, and manufacturing considerations.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
- Relevant experience in microelectronics, vacuum systems, or X-ray detection is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD design, ideally with SolidWorks.
- Hands-on approach, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication skills; English fluency required, German language skills are a plus.
- Creative mindset with a proactive attitude toward solving engineering challenges.
