Mission

As a Quantum Engineer within the quantum integrated circuit design team, you will be a key contributor in enhancing the design-fabrication-test cycle of next-generation quantum processors. Your mission will be to extract and apply empirical calibrations from complex datasets to inform and improve processor design. By developing robust analytical tools and collaborating across hardware and fabrication teams, you will directly impact the reliability, yield, and performance of quantum chips.

Responsibilities

Data Analysis & Design Feedback

  • Analyze large-scale datasets from quantum processors and test structures to derive empirical calibrations that guide design improvements.

  • Apply statistical modeling and machine learning techniques to optimize processor design parameters and performance predictions.

Software Infrastructure

  • Design and implement software tools and frameworks that automate data analysis processes and accelerate design iteration cycles.

  • Ensure that developed tools meet industry-grade standards for maintainability, scalability, and integration with existing design workflows.

Device Modeling & Characterization

  • Investigate and model the behavior of superconducting devices, particularly Josephson junctions, to enhance understanding of cryogenic processor performance.

  • Bridge data from room-temperature metrology with cryogenic test results to improve model accuracy.

Collaboration with Fabrication

  • Work closely with fabrication engineers to monitor and improve yield in the quantum foundry.

  • Identify and promote high-yield processor candidates for further testing and system integration.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Master’s degree in a field relevant to quantum information science, or at least 4 years of experience in a technical role related to the position.

  • Strong command of statistical methods and experience working with large experimental datasets.

  • Solid understanding of circuit theory and electrical circuit analysis at the undergraduate level.

  • Proficiency in Python for scientific computing, with demonstrated experience in collaborative or industrial environments.

  • Experience analyzing experimental data in close collaboration with experimentalists.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary, collaborative setting.

Preferred Experience
  • PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.

  • Knowledge or hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas: superconducting device physics, Josephson junctions, radio-frequency engineering, integrated circuit design, circuit quantum electrodynamics (cQED), and superconducting qubits.

  • Previous experience in a technical role within a startup or industrial R&D environment.
